Subjek Manajemen Pertahanan -- Indonesian Policy -- Plastic Waste Imports -- Plastic Pollution -- Industrial Needs -- Environmental Security
Catatan United Nations has declared war on plastic pollution. However, Indonesia as a member of the United Nations has imported plastic waste for reasons of meeting industrial needs. This certainly has a negative impact from imported plastic waste on national environmental security. The import of plastic waste must be balanced with an appropriate recycling policy for imported plastic waste that is in line with industry needs. Research to analyse Indonesia's current plastic waste import policy. This policy requires strict regulation and supervision to ensure environmental safety in the future. This research uses qualitative descriptive analysis methods, environmental security theory, circular economy theory, reinforcement theory and policy evaluation analysis theory as apply theories. Data collection procedures were carried out by conducting direct interviews and documentations. The results of the analysis show that (a) the current policy landscape for importing plastic waste in Indonesia, namely trade regulation Number 36 of 2023, reflects a balance between economic considerations, industrial needs and environmental needs (b) the impacts of importing plastic waste as fulfilling industrial needs for raw materials, supports recycling and contributes to economic growth and job creation, but also poses significant environmental risks (c) strengthening policies through revisions, improving legal enforcement mechanisms, establishing clear import quotas and quality standards, and promoting domestic waste management. This research is expected to contribute to anticipating non-military threats and environmental security due to waste import policies.
